50% creator costs – a tough nut to crack

Since 1 January 2018, significant changes in the settlement of 50% tax deductible costs are effective. This is due to a large amendment to tax regulations including the Personal Income Tax Act. Changes in the law also coincide with a change in the approach of tax authorities to apply 50% costs.

We also recommend the article by Agnieszka Wachowska, legal advisor and Joanna Jastrząb, trainee legal advisor on “50% creator costs – a tough nut to crack”, published in the Rzeczpospolita daily.

Trademark: a new definition, new types of markings

In the years 2016-2017, significant changes took place in trademark law both at the national and EU levels. In Poland, the amendment to the Act of 30 June 2000 became effective on 16 April 2016. The reform of EU trademarks was divided into two stages. Part of the changes became applicable on 23 March 2016, and the remaining one on 1 October 2017. Since the last date, the new Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) on the European Trademark Regulation 2017/1001 of 14 June 2017 (replaced the Regulation 207/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the community trade mark) has also became effective.

Experientia docet. Anniversary Book Donated to prof. Elżbieta Traple

It is with great pleasure that we inform of the appearance of the publication “Exerientio docet. Anniversary Book Donated to prof. Elżbieta Traple” on the publishing market. Published by Wolters Kluwer, the Book is a collection of over ninety articles by remarkable legal experts.

The theme of this Book is not a coincidence. It is reflecting the broad areas of interest of the jubilarian, which extend from – possibly the most favourite – copyright law, through almost all industrial property laws (in particular patent law and trademark law), and ending with civil law.

On 20 October 2017, on the occasion of prof. Elżbieta Traple’s anniversary, a grand ceremony of presenting the commemorative Book to prof. Traple took place at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
